GEO ACCREDITATIONS

The GEO Group Australia takes great pride in ensuring that all its facilities maintain the highest possible service and operating standards.

Accreditations are an important part of this philosophy as the accreditation process evaluates our facilities, measures our operating excellence, and assesses the integrity and professionalism of our staff.

Achieving and maintaining these accreditations promotes a "culture of consistent quality" at GEO that ensures our adherence to performance standards that are among the highest in the industry.

The accreditations currently held by The GEO Group Australia include the following:

We have built our management systems around the requirements of the international best practice standard ISO 9001:2000 developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation. Our management systems are audited by TQCS International, one of the leading, fully JASANZ accredited, third party certification bodies to provide independent assurance.

Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS)
ACHS accreditation is the “gold standard” for healthcare. It assures all stakeholders that we have achieved excellence through a rigorous process of external peer review to meet world class standards for patient care and performance outcomes for benchmarking standards. GEO is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards until December 2006.

NSCA
NSCA Five Star is an internationally acclaimed quality system approach to managing occupational health, safety and related environmental risks. Built around this best practice standard, our occupational health and safety management system (OH&S) establishes, develops and benchmarks our OH&S performance. Our NSCA accreditation is further independent, external proof of our OH&S performance.

SafetyMap
The Melbourne Custody Centre’s Safety Management System has been certified to the SafetyMAP Advanced Level standard — a first for a police custody facility in Australia. This accreditation followed an audit of the policies and procedures for managing the safety, security and welfare of prisoners at the centre, conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.

HACCP
The hazard analysis critical control point system (HACCP) is a systematic methodology to control hazards in a process by applying a two-part technique: first, an analysis that identifies hazards, the severity and likelihood of occurrence; and second, identification of critical points where the hazards may be controlled, and the monitoring criteria to ensure that controls are working effectively. The HACCP plan used in our food preparation processes is based on seven principles identified in the Codex Guidelines for the Application of Hazard System adopted by the 20th Session of the Joint Food and Agricultural Organisation and World Health Organisation Codex Alimentarius Commission. Our food safety programs at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre have also been independently audited and certified by TQCS International.
