Custodial positions
As a correctional officer or custodian of inmates you will play a key role in a multi-functional team responsible for managing inmates (remand or sentenced) in a secure environment. GEO prides itself in delivering a quality service for all our stakeholders including our clients, community and the inmates themselves. The GEO Group Australia’s recruitment and selection process includes:
- assessment of applications
- information sessions, including a presentation by trained and qualified employees on the role and responsibilities of being an officer with GEO
- psychometric testing
- interviews
- security clearances
- medical checks
Your participation in the above steps will depend on the progress your application makes through each stage.
Following completion of the recruitment and selection process, if you are offered employment as a trainee correctional officer, you will commence a 4-8 week pre-service course conducted by GEO-trained professionals.
The GEO Group is a Registered Training Organisation and as such provides accredited training to new officer recruits that can result in a formal qualification in correctional practice.
Over 85 per cent of operational staff are trained to Certificate 3 or 4 level in Correctional Management.

Pacific Shores Healthcare (PSH) is a subsidiary of The GEO Group Australia. PSH delivers primary and secondary health care services to inmates within the public prison service for Corrections Victoria.
